Everything I've read indicates that yes, they will bloom this season, even though you've just planted them out. In the really cold zones, they dig them up to protect the bulbs (rhizomes?) from freezing and replant in the spring. I'm in Texas, so I just mulch, and am always pleasantly surprised to see them shoot up in the first warmth of Spring. I'm in Zone 8b.
