Is it ok to cut through the tubers when separating and repotting canna lily?

yes..thats exactly how you seperate them...but you should have done it in the winter (or when it's cold...) they might rot now.

I have done it in the Spring and the Fall. Cut the tubers. I usually use an axe or sharp knife.
Reply:yes... don't cut them into too small of sections...if you look at the tuber they have rings or nodes that resemble bamboo almost... when you cut one in half, the tissue will die up to that node... cut them with a clean sharp knife then set them in the shade for about 10 min...this will start to dry the wound and callus over.... after that... pot it up and you should be good to go....
