My cannas were about 12" out of the ground when we had a freeze. Will they come back?

Existing leaves and new leaves are brown and droopy. Wondering if I leave them or if I should cut them back down to the ground?

If your cannas were well mulched and the ground didn't freeze, they are probably still alive.

I would cut them back, but not to the ground. You don't want to cut off any live parts!

Water and fertilize well.

Good Luck!!
Reply:in zone 7 cannas are perennial so they are alive during a freeze. definetely cut it back to the ground and after the last frost it will for sure pop back out of the ground.
