I need to find out how to seperate my canna bulbs without killing them all.And when should I do this?

Just pull the apart, it is nearly impossible to kill them. I had one that our dog dug up 3 times last year and it finally grew to an enormous size and multiplied about 10 times.

I'm not familiar with the plant, but try www.hgtv.com. It's the Home and Garden TV website, they can answer your questions. Good Luck!
Reply:the fall is the best time let plant die back to the groiun then dig them up and seprate the peices and put in a dry place sawdust is good keep in a cool place and plant in the spring and u will have about doubale the next year
Reply:cannas are almost impossible to kill.i have even burnt the plant leaves after they turned brown and scraggldy and they still didnt die.i have moved them and planted them any time of the year so long as its warm.be prepared for it to multiply where ever you put them.i have even went to move some andb just threw some on top of the ground where water was standing and it took laying on top of the ground.the main thing to know is that they multiply like rabbits and that they love water!
